Thank you Carol Cipriano and the Companion Bird Club of Delaware Valley for their club donation of $400 to Parrots International/Armonia Alternative Headdress Project for the conservaion of the critically endangered Blue-throated Macaw. We have recently expanded this project to start educational classes for the local community in thearea of the recently acquired Blue-throated Macaw Preserve in the Beni Department of Bolivia. The project now also includes training classes on the construction of artificial feathers and alternative materials for the headdresses to the local indigenous community . As feathers are very valuable for the ceremonial headdress, the project will actually provide an economic livelihood for the class participants (adult and teens) and provide a ready supply of alternative feathers to the other communities.
